Hayy companions!! I'm back for another exciting blog post!

ok let's dive in ALLONS-Y!

so I have a dilemma. and yes it is a "Summer Love" dilemma.

boys, they're just so confusing and I don't know what to do. So they're are two of them, i just started to get to know both of them this school year and they are both younger than me, k, similarities over.

 There's this one, let's call him “John”. John is the strong silent type, and to be honest it intimidates the crud outta me, which is why i dont talk to him much everyone tells me that John is a great guy once you get him talking. But thats my problem, i dont know how to get him talking. I mean sure, I can strike up one hell of a conversation about the weather but after that... what?... he doesn't seem like the guy who's very nerdy. once we were at cane's and i mentioned the cape cod chip commercial with the flock of seagulls playing the flock of seagulls, and he was like "huh?" he’s very strong in his faith and that’s really all I know about him cause he intimidates me. And I like him a lot, like enough to get in a relationship with him if I gathered up the courage to say more than 3 sentences to him.

Then theres “Steve”. Steve is a bit younger than John, a bit of a country boy. He’s kinda social, in a music nerd way. He’s very close to his family. And he is just a fun loving spirit. I’ve hung out with him a lot cause he is very approachable. He’s very receptive to my nerdiness cause he has his own nerdiness about him. Everyone says I shouldn’t get with him cause he’s “too young”, and “doesn’t know what he wants in life” but I mean everytime I hang out with him he brings out the kid in me. We’ve had our ups and downs with me asking him out and then him asking me out, but I like him a lot, but im not sure if I like him enough to get into a relationship with him. Im gonna talk to him this weekend to see whats up with “us” ill letyall know how that goes.

So if any of yall have some suggestions on what I could posibly talk to him about PLEASE let me know. It will be greatly appreciated!!

It's everywhere. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and actual real life conversations. But what does it mean? Where did it all start? How did it go viral? And WHY THE FREAK IS IT SO ANNOYING?!?!?!?!?!

Yup my faithful Companions I'm back and I'm ranting!

So the newest "word trend" is #YOLO for all you social network noobs out there this means You Only Live Once. Everyone seems to think that the almighty Drake came up with this little phrase. FALSE!!! I Heather am here to dispel this thinking and tell you the history of YOLO. So here we go...

2004-2010

-The earliest known use of the acronym is attributed to Adam Mesh from the NBC reality show The Average Joe. Mesh launched the “You Only Live Once” clothing line on March 20th, 2004.

-The first Urban Dictionary definition was submitted by user Colin on April 6th, 2004.

-The promotion website for San Francisco’s nightlife event YoloSF was launched on November 10th, 2005.

-In July of 2006, the American indie rock band The Strokes launched a promotional campaign called “Operation YOLO” prompting fans to request their 2006 single “You Only Live Once” on radio stations.

-The life coaching site YOLO Coaching was registered on June 1st, 2007.

-On March 14th, 2008, YouTuber JCVdude uploaded a video titled “YOLO ‘you only live once’ JCV" outlining his philosophy of living life to the fullest.

-On October 4th, 2009, the weather forecast site Weather Underground blogger Beachfoxx published a post titled “Friends……YOLO – You Only Live Once.”

-On July 27th, 2010, an infant bodysuit with the words “YOLO You Only Live Once” screen printed on the front was submitted to the online retailer Cafe Press.

2011-2012

-On December 16th, 2011, The Huffington Post published a photo of the American actor Zac Efron with “YOLO” tattooed on his right hand.

-The acronym was used in the 2011 hip hop single “The Motto” by Canadian recording artist Drake featuring Lil Wayne. On October 23rd, 2011, Drake posted a tweet using the word accompanied by a photo of him standing on a balcony. The Twitter analytics site Trendistic reports that tweets with the keyword “yolo” picked up on October 24th, one day after Drake tweeted the balcony photo.

-Drake’s song was officially released the next month on November 29th, followed by the official music video on February 10th, 2012. The video accumulated over 450,000 views in 21 days

-On November 29th, 2011, YouTuber iBeChucks uploaded a video complaining about the use of the word soon after the release of Drake’s song. On February 29th, 2012, YouTuber ThisIsACommentary uploaded a video titled “Yolo These Days” in which he criticized the word’s sudden rise in popularity and compared it to the word swag.

-A Facebook page for the acronym has 4,694 likes as of May 7th, 2012.

So there you have it my companions, the history of "YOLO." Yes Drake made it popular but it didn't start with him. I mean c'mon, Drake is nothing more than wheelchair Jimmy from Degrassi! He's got so much street cred all the 8 year olds down the street are trembling in their beyblade light-up shoes!

As of now many teens and young adults are using this saying as an excuse to do stupid/illegal things.

And another thing I’ve noticed that some people when ever a person says YOLO they taunt/scream back "NO! Hakuna Matata!!" I'm sorry if the person yelling this is you but really?! I mean c'mon they have two totally different meanings!

YOLO- you only live once, seize the moment, what time is better than the present to do this?

Vampire story... help with criticism and a title!!!!

            Vampires have existed for hundreds of years unbeknownst to the human race. In the year 2080 the vampire Elders grew bored of living in hiding and decided to reveal the race to the world. It is now 2100; Taiga Kira is a Technoid Vampire who was turned in the year 1980 by her Mate and Master, Kaito Camui, a 400 year old Renaiason vampire. They reside in a small mansion on the outskirts of Akihabara, Japan, the vampire capital of the world. Today is July 4^th, Taiga’s 120^th anniversary of Kaito turning her. Kaito has decided to drive Taiga to her favorite sushi restaurant, Miyazaki, in the Technoid District of Downtown Tokyo.

            As they sit in traffic, “Taiga, honey. Why do you always wear those plaid bondage pants and cat ear hoodies? Couldn’t you have dressed a little bit nicer? Especially for tonight?” “Well you should know how much of a fashionista I am, we have been dating for 122 years. I just felt like wearing my 2050 style clothes tonight, especially since we’re headed to my district. This style is all the rage here.” “I know darling,” says Kaito, “but since it’s our anniversary, you couldn’t have worn one of my favorite outfits?” Nudging Taiga, “if you know what I mean.” Taiga rolls her ruby red eyes, “you are such a Renaiason. Sheesh. Why do you think I’m wearing this hoodie? To hide my Aya Hirano shirt? No, it’s to hide this damn corset you love.” “The blue one with the dragons?” “No, the red one with the geishas. Of course it’s the blue one! Why else in the world would I be wearing my black and blue bondage pants?” “Because all of your other pants were dirty? I don’t know.” She sighs and shakes her head, “that’s why I fell in love with my Koizumi in 1978.” Kaito takes a deep breath as they pull up to the parking attendant’s stand at Miyazaki sushi. “Ah, Koizumi, that was the best September of my 278 year existence. You were Anya back then.”

            The couple steps out of Kaito’s classic baby blue 2067 Lamborghini Murcielago. As Kaito throws the keys to the attendant he rushes to Taiga’s side to offer his arm to her. She gladly accepts and they proceed to the small holo-hostess desk in the front of the restaurant. Kaito motions for a 2 person table and then inserts a 1000 yen bill into her cash slot. They wait only long enough for them to take a deep gaze into each other’s eyes and for Kaito to playfully kiss Taiga on the pale nape of her neck. The holo-hostess then brings them to a table on the second floor balcony overlooking the large restaurant. A conveyor belt runs along the banister side of the small table showcasing different sashimi and sushi rolls.

            “I know this is silly, but, tell me how we met.” “You do not remember my darling Taiga?” “No, I do remember it’s just I like it when you tell it. You’re such a good story teller.” “Fine, I shall tell you my little bat. It was an abnormally muggy night on the 23^rd of August in 1978. You and I were both at Club Snow near Tokyo University; you were searching for a new beau and me my next victim. You caught my eye from across the club while you were dancing with your girlfriends, with a Jack and Coke in your hand. At first I thought you were just another AB- but as I got closer to you, you turned out to be someone different, someone new, like no other person I have ever wanted to turn. Usually I turned people right after I lured them to the alley or my car and get their permission. But I couldn’t do that to you for some reason. Something told me to court you, and so I followed my instinct and bought you some drinks and invited you to a private room in the club. There we kissed each other with such passion that everything else disappeared in the club until it closed at 3 am. I almost bit you when we left but my instinct held me back. I drove you to my place in Akihabara where you stayed the night and never left.” “I remember that night,” reminisced Taiga, “I had just turned 22 that July and I had also just finished my junior year at Tokyo U.” “Yes, you were. You looked so beautiful and still do.” She blushes and grabs a plate of tuna sashimi off of the conveyor belt.

            Taiga opens and breaks apart her chopsticks. Slowly she starts peeling off the different layers of the tuna, like every vampire does to savor their meals. As Kaito grabs a plate with a swordfish roll on it, he spots some suspicious looking characters across the balcony. Taiga continues to peel the layers of the tuna when Kaito abruptly grabs her chopsticks and motions with his eyes to the shady men. She takes a quick glance at them and gasps.  “Hunters,” she mouths and Kaito nods in agreement.

            “What are they doing here? I thought the hunters were mandated by the United World Council to live in Hong Kong,” whispered Taiga. “They are, but they can still visit the world darling. Just so we don’t bring attention to ourselves we need to eat like humans.” “Really?! Ugh! I hate taking big bites out of sashimi it ruins the whole flavor.” “For me my love,” whispers Kaito as he caresses her hand and kisses it. She blushes and nods her head in agreement.

             They finish their plates of food and leave Miyazaki’s sushi to retrieve Kaito’s car from the valet only to find that the valets, “don’t have my keys?! What do you mean you don’t have my keys? I gave my keys from my blue Murcielago to that attendant over there just an hour ago!” “I’m sorry sir but there is no record of a blue Murcielago in our garage” explains the attendant.  “There has to be! I have the ticket right here with my number on it! It has to be in there!” screams Kaito. As he continues to argue Taiga spots the same hunters that were in the restaurant, staring and whispering to each other. She tries to get Kaito’s attention by tugging at his jacket sleeve. “I’m busy darling” he says with a stern tone in his voice. She tugs harder and he just shoos her away. She gets aggravated and reaches up to turn Kaito’s head toward the hunters. As he turns back to the attendant he says “um, don’t worry about it. We will just walk home. Thank you for your time.” Kaito firmly grabs Taiga’s hand and walks away from the restaurant.

            They are taking quick steps through the streets of Downtown Tokyo, with the hunters in pursuit. Even though they are walking very fast, they just look like as if nothing was wrong. Just a couple walking at a fast pace through the dimly lit streets of Tokyo. Kaito leans down to whisper in her ear, “they are not far behind us, my love.” She gives him a kiss in return, “what should we do?” “Well, I have a feeling that they are going to keep following us so I don’t want to lead them to our place. I know of a little hotel with an anti-hunter spell on it. Did you bring your dirt dear?” “Yes, but do you really think they will hurt us?” “Love, they are hunters. Of course they will hurt us. But don’t worry; as soon as we cross in the street into that parking lot we will be safe for a while. We will stay the day and then hopefully they are gone by then.” “Honey I’m scared. I’m even more scared than I was before 2080. They could actually kill us.” “Don’t worry darling I think I have a plan”

            They cross the street into the parking lot and into the hotel lobby to get a room key. They proceed to their 5^th floor parking lot view room. Taiga peeks out the window to see the hunters staring at the hotel. “Kaito they’re still outside, what do we do?” “I don’t know I’m trying to figure out why they are following us maybe I can call Takasu and see what he says.”

            Takasu is the Pureblood head of the Kyuuketsuki clan of southern Japan and Kaito’s master. He is also one of the Elders who decided to reveal the race in 2080. Takasu always disliked Kaito for the fact that he doesn’t turn many humans into vampires just because he can. Kaito only turns humans after he gets their consent, like Taiga.

            The phone rings for 3 minutes straight. Finally the phone clicks “Hello? Hello, Takasu-sensei? My Lord it is Kaito your humble servant. I have something to inquire.” “Yes my son,” slowly and low comes through the phone. “My Lord did Taiga and my self do anything to upset the elders?” “No, my son you have not upset the other elders. Why do you ask?” “Only because my servant and I have hunters following us, Master” “Hunters you say? Ah, I see they have finally found you. Excellent.” “Excellent! What do you mean by excellent?” “You have been a horrid servant; you haven’t turned anyone since 1980.” “Well my Lord, I have found my soul-less mate and we have made a commitment to not turn anyone else. She herself has not even tasted fresh human blood, only the blood from the bars.” “What you have decided to do with your existence is unacceptable. It is against the whole vision of this race,” jeers Takasu. “And just what is the vision of this race, master?” Kaito questions with anger in his voice. Takasu replies with a sneering joy in his voice, “to take over the world and enslave the human race to be our pets.” “That’s, that’s just horrible Takasu! Is that the whole reason you and the Elders revealed our race? Just so they would know who their master would be? You are all evil!” “Aw, well thank you Kaito that’s the sweetest thing you have ever said to me since 1700. Yes, that is our plan and there is nothing you can do to stop us.” Kaito screams into the phone, “Just wait. You will see, Taiga and I will stop you! No matter what it takes!” He hangs up and throws the phone against the wall.

ive been doin a little thinking...

hayy guys!!!

im back for a little while! ive just been thinking about the story i wrote a few semesters ago for my creative writing class. its gonna sound cheesy but its about vampires... i know lame its so over done since the twilight books, but i think my story might have a little twist that might get your attention. so as i was writing this story i brought together all the things i know a fair bit about (Vampires, Japan, Music Etc.) and shoved them into the story. it's also based in the future in the year 2100 when vampires have finally decided to reveal their existence to the human world. im gonna post the story, or what i have of the story on my next blog and i would like some feed back if at all possible because i would like to try to finish this story possibly before the start of the fall semester. im also gonna post some of the Main Character's profiles in another post after i post the story...

i look forward to hearing back from all of my followers and give me some good constructive criticism to help me finish the story cause it kinda ends abruptly...

Some New Things

hayy guys! heather is back again!

so alot of things have happened in this past month! i came back from my mission trip to Germany. I got kicked out of UPA cause of new management wanting to remodel buildings A B and C (DUMB). I moved into a new house with the Diva Den on Gen. Mouton in Lafayette. im attending summer school. but all in all im having a great summer so far!

ok so mission trip!

i really wish i could have stayed here for like 4 more months. i just love the city, the people, the culture, the multitude of carbonated drinks... yes carbonated drinks. ever since ive come back from germany i havent stopped drinking  homemade Apfelschorle and going to sonic during happy hour and getting a route 44 coke with orange in it.

so the first Monday we were in Berlin we played S and U-bahn golf. We basically split up into teams and went looking for landmarks on the metro system. This was to get us used to getting around the city. My team got to see the Brandenburg Gate (where the famous line by President Reagan " Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down this wall!" was said) , the East Side Gallery (the largest section of the Berlin Wall that is still standing) , the television tower and so much more.

For the next few days we went on to the Technical University campus and handed out iced tea and talked  to students about SFC (students for christ). We also went to Humboldt university where Einstein taught and Karl Marx attended. We also did outreach here but it was just talking to students.

On Friday we had a Louisiana night and we cooked jambalaya and gumbo with German ingredients.... surprisingly it came out good, i just wish i would have gotten some :(

then the second Monday we went back to the campuses and invited more people to their Tuesday night service called the Living Room.  And Tuesday night we hosted the Living Room. a few of us gave our testimony on how we came to Christ. then our pastor Eric talked about how our lives are like an airplane ride, we are all on planes flying to a destination and sometimes peoples planes will land and wait for a layover (when you fall away from the church) and then as we get older our planes will reach our final destination (when we die) and how if we accept Christ as our savior we can be sure that when ever our plane lands we can be sure that we are going to Heaven. After the message was over Eric asked if anyone would like to make sure their plane was going to land in Heaven, and we had one student give his life to Christ for the first time and then we had another student renew his life in Christ because he had fallen away from the church.

I was really sad to leave. I miss my Friends i made there oh so much! but i still keep in touch with them via Facebook.

we left on Wednesday morning  at about 9 am we had to take the U bahn and a bus to get to the airport and when we got there we said our goodbyes and there was lots of crying and promises from me and Caroline of meeting up with each other in New York for a Green Day Concert. we have some strong Headwinds so we have to make a pit stop in Canada. this pit stop made us arrive to the Newark airport 2 hours later than we were supposed to and a half an hour before our flight to Houston. so we were late to our flight but we watched our flight sit at the airport terminal for about 45 mins because it was raining but they wouldn't open up the doors to let us in. so we watched our flight leave with out us. we finally got another flight at about 7 pm that nightwe get to Houston around 10 pm luckily we didnt have to sleep in the airport until the next morning cause Eric had one of the People from Crossroads church in Lafayette come and pick us up from the Houston airport and we drove back to Lafayette. we finally got home around 2:30 am i crashed in my apt until about 2 pm the next day (curse you jet lag!! lol)

well thats about all i have for now gotta get back to class! lol

Going on a Mission trip

hayy everyone!!! sorry i haven't posted in a while!! Ive just been soo busy with school and iTeam stuff i kinda put my blog on the back burner. but im back for  little while.

so as my title suggests im going on a mission trip!!! yup a mission trip! i cant wait! ill be heading to Berlin, Germany with Chi Alpha the week after finals. the trip is gonna cost about $1500-1800 which im trusting that God will provide me with.  i really cannot wait!!

now comes the worrying... ive been hearing all this about a government shut down and how the passport offices will close if this happens. and its kinda freaking me out, not to mention i cant check the status of my passport online for some reason. i cant figure out why.

and secondly i wasnt really worrying about funds but then mom started worrying about the funds and now im worrying. i know my mom has done a fairly great job on raising money by selling raffle tickets for a night at the Hilton Riverside.

but all in all i really cant wait to go and i know that God will provide the necessary funds and the expedited service i need on my passport.
